2012 Sales Figures Show Chrysler Oman Achieving Major Growth
Chrysler Middle East (CME) closed 2012 with a new all-time company benchmark in sales for its Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® and Ram brands, with Oman’s year on year growth over 2011 increasing by 59%.
“Our sales showed major growth throughout 2012, building on the momentum of a highly successful 2011, which saw us achieve what was at the time our best ever sales performance in the Middle East,” said Alfredo Altavilla, Chief Operating Officer -Fiat Chrysler EMEA. “The introduction of the latest models across the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® and Ram ranges had a dramatic and highly positive effect, and the upward trend has continued in the first months of 2013.”
The 2012 results mark yet another consecutive period of solid growth for CME’s brands in the Middle East, and are a clear result of the group’s revamped product line-up and extensive quality investments resulting in the brands being recognized for their distinctive features.
CME has plenty to be confident about, including the massive popularity of the Dodge Charger with the industry acclaimed 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox mated to the award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine, while the latest high performance SRT models - Chrysler 300 SRT8, Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, Dodge Charger SRT8 and Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT8 - are world-class performance contenders that deliver the latest in safety technologies and creature comforts. All of these models are based on the successful SRT vehicle development formula that uses five proven hallmarks - awe-inspiring powertrains; outstanding ride, handling and capability; benchmark braking; aggressive and functional exteriors and race-inspired, high-performance
interiors to remain true to their performance roots.
“The recognition received from leading organisations acknowledges our focus on quality, design and performance and this in turn is being recognised and appreciated by customers - we listen to them and continually implement changes to our vehicles to meet - and exceed - their needs,” said Altavilla.
“Consistent enhancements of our regional dealer sales and service network are also adding to our success, and from that perspective we’re particularly happy to be achieving growth rates that are running way above the industry average.”
“2012 was a remarkable year for us, both in the Middle East and internationally,” added Altavilla. “Our commitment to world-class processes, quality, advanced technology, stand-out design, cutting edge powertrains and transmissions, along with total capability and safety has paid off, and has been a major factor in our sales achievements.”
“Sales-wise, last year we were the fastest growing manufacturer in the region with our Chrysler Brands. This year, we will add further operations in a few markets – Oman, which we view as an important player, being one of them.”
In terms of 2012 sales highlights, the Jeep®Grand Cherokee - the most awarded SUV in automotive history - along with the legendary Wrangler, continue to lead the charge for the Jeep® brand, which was up by 40% year-on-year, meaning that 2012 was yet another significant milestone in the Jeep® brand’s history as it enters its eighth decade of 4x4 innovation.
Dodge, up 58% year-on-year, continues to be CGME’s top selling brand, with the Dodge Charger (up 111% year-on-year), Challenger (up 144%) and true seven-seater Durango (up 155%) models performing extremely well.
The Chrysler brand also showed incredible growth, with the multi-award winning 300C - the fastest growing sedan in its segment - boosting overall annual brand sales by a massive 377%. Ram, reinvigorated as a stand-alone brand from last year, also continues to grow with year-on-year total sales up by 94% on2011.
“For us, it's particularly encouraging posting such robust sales figures and achieving this level of sales growth in what is still an extremely tough and competitive market environment,” said Altavilla.
“We have a wide range of stylish, distinctive, dynamic and high-quality models that combine total functionality with highly competitive whole-life ownership costs - these strengths have clearly been recognized by car buyers, with increasing numbers adding Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®and Ram to their vehicle shopping list.
“This establishes a solid foundation for further growth in Oman, and the scene is firmly set for what we are confident will be yet another record breaking year in 2013 - our growth will be generated and sustained by an on-going long-term program of new vehicle introductions across all segments.”
