General Automotive Company, the exclusive dealer for Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman, will launch the latest star to join the Mitsubishi family – the Lancer Fortis, at the Motor Show Oman 2012. The Lancer Fortis, with its new 1.8L engine, bridges the current gap in the Lancer range and is perfectly specified to lead the C-Segment in Oman; featuring class leading performance that sets is aside from its competitors in the market.
“General Automotive Company has emerged as a leading player in the Omani automotive market as a result of being able to offer customers the functionality and comfort they desire in a vehicle while still making it attainable,” explained, Mark Tomlinson, General Manager of General Automotive Company. “The Lancer Fortis is the first all-new car from Mitsubishi in over two years, equipped with a 1.8L MiVEC engine, this new car offers class-leading performance at a very competitive price. This is the first in a long line of all-new models that Mitsubishi plan to launch over the next few years.”
The sedan category from Mitsubishi has seen a loyal response in the Omani market with the Lancer and Gallant being absolute favourites in the region. The brand new Lancer Fortis, launched at an extremely attractive price is ideally suited to the sedan C-segment range and ensures that customers can enjoy the Mitsubishi experience in an all-new vehicle. The Lancer Fortis provides an outstanding package of performance, comfort and value for money.

The new Lancer Fortis, with its elegant exterior, features the signature Mitsubishi ‘gaping grille’ and sleek headlamp design. Likewise, the rear styling is characteristically muscular with handsomely designed rear lamp cluster, maximising night-time visibility.

At 4,585mm, the Lancer Fortis is one of the longest vehicles in its class. This translates into a spacious cabin layout, providing enhanced comfort, convenience and enhanced levels of passenger safety.

The Lancer Fortis provides drivers a modern and practical interior with the use of high quality soft touch materials and a sound ergonomic design, giving the all-new sedan a fresh and elegant feeling. The clean lines of the dashboard are laid out with a crisp and clear instrumentation layout zoned by function. Likewise, an ergonomically designed central control cluster houses the most frequently used controls for easy operability so the driver can focus his attention on driving without distraction. The central controls show vehicle operating status information at the top, the audio control panel below and the climate control panel at the bottom.
Apart from its unique design, the Lancer Fortis is powered by a MIVEC 1.8-litre petrol engine providing class leading performance in terms of both engine output and torque. It bridges the current gap in the range, and being the first 1.8litre version in the Mitsubishi C-Segment line up, it completes the Lancer family.
The all new Lancer Fortis also enhances the INVECS-III (Intelligent & Innovative Vehicle Electronic Control System) and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) transmission system to ensure maximum performance is achieved.

The INVECS-III is an advanced system that automatically selects the optimal gear ratio based on road and driving conditions ("optimal control"), and utilises "learning control" to match the particular driver's driving style. As a perfect complement to this system, the CVT brings out the efficiency from the engine performance. Like a conventional automatic transmission, there is no jolt when shifting gears and every time the accelerator is applied there is enjoyable, smooth acceleration; combined with low fuel consumption and a very smooth ride.
Under the bonnet, the new 1.8L MiVEC engine develops 143 PS and 173 Newton meters of torque offering levels of performance, few cars in its class can match. And even more impressively, it does so without sacrificing fuel economy or comfort

Other available features on the Lancer Fortis include comfortable seating for up to five adults, 16" Alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, power locks,  electric windows, fully automatic air conditioning,  AM/FM/CD/MP3 radio with six speakers, colour coded body panels, dual-covered visor vanity mirrors plus much more.

Following its official launch at the Motor Show Oman 2012 on 11th-14th December, the Lancer Fortis will be available to view and test drive at Mitsubishi showrooms across the Sultanate. General Automotive is inviting its customers to visit their local showroom to book a test drive and find out more about the latest star to join the Mitsubishi family.
