Audi Oman sponsored a special celebration dinner for the players of Wigan Athletic and Oman’s national soccer team at the Barr Al Jissah Shangri-La Resort & Spa following their historic game on Friday 17th February.
The event reinforced Audi’s commitment to supporting sporting excellence around the world, with the brand already heavily involved in football through its partnerships with Real Madrid and Barcelona among others.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Abdel Karim Awwad, Audi Oman National Sales and Marketing Manager said: “We were delighted to enhance our support for sporting excellence through sponsoring this special dinner for the players of Wigan Athletic and the Oman national side at the Heritage Village area of the resort.
“It was a celebration event for the players – including the star goalkeeper of Wigan and Oman Ali Al Habsi – and it gave Audi an opportunity to showcase our brand and models following the first ever game featuring an English Premier League side in the Sultanate.”
Audi regards itself as a pacesetter of advanced technology, which is why Audi also adopts a new approach to sponsorship. Its concepts adopt a long-term horizon and it places particular emphasis on working with the stars of tomorrow. The objective is to help excellence come to the fore, with some carefully targeted assistance.
Audi's involvement is aimed at supporting people who are pursuing their vision, in areas that provide fresh impetus. In the same way that Audi itself is one of the leading manufacturers of cars and Audi sports sponsorship is an integral part of this approach.
In football this includes support for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and others with support also given to sailing, golf, winter sports and the Olympics.
