Chrysler to be presenting sponsor of the 7th Muscat International Film Festival

The Chrysler 300C to Be Official Limousine for Visiting Movie Stars and Celebrities

Chrysler has announced that it will be the presenting sponsor of the prestigious and eagerly awaited 7th Muscat International Film Festival.  The company will be using its luxury 300C saloon car as the official limousine for the one-week festival that starts at Sultan Qaboos University on 24th March and runs until 31st March.

Chrysler, distributed exclusively in Oman by Dhofar Automotive, has a long and distinguished history with Hollywood movies with vehicles like the 300C having taken centre stage in a number of well known and hugely popular blockbuster movie hits.

Chris Edwards is the General Manager of Dhofar Automotive and said: “We are delighted to be associated with and be the main presenting sponsor of the seventh Muscat International Film Festival which has become one of the key festivals in the country designed for the enjoyment of families and film aficionados.

“Sponsoring an international film festival of this nature is a natural fit for Chrysler as a brand since we believe, as do film makers around the world, that the complex challenges of the future can only be mastered by means of creative power and innovative ideas.”

He explained that the decision to use Chrysler’s 300C luxury saloon car  as the official limousine for all the visiting stars and celebrities was highly appropriate given the history of the car itself in a number of well-known international films.

“The 300C has a special place in Hollywood and film producers and writers have been known to really like the Chrysler brand and the model in particular. In the recent film ‘Drive’, there is a notable car chase between a Ford Mustang and a 300C while the 300C has also featured in ‘The Island’ and Harrison Ford’s action thriller ‘Firewall’ and Steven Segal’s ‘Urban Justice.

“At Dhofar Automotive we believe that films, art and culture enrich the life of every person – and of course this is also true for our customers and employees. As forward looking and dynamic automotive company we depend on creativity and innovation just as much as those working in films, arts and culture,” added Mr. Edwards.

He explained that the company was looking forward to the visiting movie stars and film celebrities enjoying the comfort and luxury embodied within the Chrysler 300C when they are taken around Muscat and to and from the film festival centre at Sultan Qaboos University.

The eight-day long event will see films from various countries including US, UK, India premiered along with retrospective of David Lean and a special look back at 50 years of Bond films – with 007 himself Roger Moore anticipated to attend - and several documentaries.

Several screenings will take place for children and also there is a ‘ladies only’ special day.

The star studded opening night performances will feature  performances by Oman’s Salah Al Zadjali, multi-platinum Lebanese recording artist and Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF Nancy Ajram, violinist Billy Ban Ban, ballad singer Lucky Ali, India’s celebrated flute master Pandit Shiv Prasad Chaurasia, classical dancers Ramli Ibrahim and percussionist Sivamani.
