Finalists Do Battle for the Volkswagen Your Music Das Auto

Two potential Arabic music stars, Hamad Al Fardan and Louay Al Majed, have today been announced by Volkswagen Middle East, as the finalists of the regional ‘grassroots’ competition, ‘Your Music. Das Auto.’. Specifically designed to support and find new musical talent living in the Middle East, the competition has entered its final stages as music-enthusiasts from across the region begin voting for their favourite, original song on the ‘Your Music. Das Auto.’Facebook page.

Highlighting the popularity of Arabic music, the competition has received a great response from creative regional songsters, with the ‘Your Music. Das Auto.’ Facebook page reaching 2,773,723 people so far. Entrant’s tracks were created to include the specially commissioned Volkswagen beat and the overall winner will receive the once in a life time opportunity to create their own music video.

Thomas Milz, Managing Director, Volkswagen Middle East, said: “Innovationand performance are just some of the qualities that represent Volkswagen and the qualities we were looking for in our finalist entries. We were overwhelmed with the quality of the entries and these finalists are a strong representation of the Arabic music talents in this region. 

“Voting is open now, so we urge music fans to go to our official Facebook page and vote for their favourite piece.

“At Volkswagen, we have a strong history in connecting people and communities through music and the competition is a way of highlighting Volkswagen’s long-term commitment to the region.”

Raya Abirached, the popular host of Arabs got Talent, who is supporting Volkswagen with its ‘Your Music. Das Auto’ campaign to help unearth a new music star, said: “The creativity of Hamad and Louay is symbolic of the musical potential amongst Arab youth in the region.

“The Arabic music industry holds tremendous potential for young artists, and I always want to support the opportunities available in the region for them to get noticed. The ‘Your Music. Das Auto’ competition is an excellent platform to showcase talent and to introduce Arabic music to new audiences in the Middle East.”

‘Your Music. Das Auto.’ builds on the strong heritage that Volkswagen has in supporting global music initiatives. For more than 15 years, the Volkswagen Sound Foundation has supported new artists and bands by providing them with tour buses, sponsorship, promotion and coaching.

Finalist, Hamad Al Fardan, 26 years old, whose original creation presents Arabichip hop music, said: “My song, ‘We don’t give up’, is about trying to achieve a dream and notgiving up until that happens. There are a lot of talented people in this region, all trying to achieve their dreams so I feel they can relate to this. 

“My music means everything to me and I will never give up on my ambition for my music to be heard worldwide. This competition is a great opportunity for people like me who have passion for music and don’t have enough support to make it happen. I feel blessed that I’m a part of it and have the chance to show to people what I have spent the past eight years working on.”

Hamad’s competitor, LouayAl Majed, 23 years old, whose slow ballad has made it to the final, said: “Music is a huge part of my life and something I feel can truly touch us. My song is called ‘I will be with you’ and is about a guy’s attachment to a girl. Love is a theme that will never tire and something I feel everyone can relate to. This is a unique music competition and a different concept to what already exists. I’m very happy to be part of it and I would like to thank my musical team, Mahmoud Wahid Mahmoud, Hesham El Bana and Alaa Sero, who have helped me create this piece, as well as Volkswagen Middle East for this opportunity.”
